Description

Extreme Scuba Makeover, ESM

What is the goal?

ESM is one of the most compact and powerful courses you can take as a diver. The program is designed to get back to the core of what is needed for diver control without the influence of equipment. The idea is that in a relatively short time, you will be introduced to some simple techniques that emphasize the use of your lungs and breathing to control your buoyancy and trim. You also learn to clear a mask without using excess air, and to feel what it means to be correctly weighted. Enjoy the true freedom of the balanced diver, You will also learn the forgklick and realize that its all tied together.

Who is it for?

This program is for all divers of all levels, realy ALL levels. From beginner to full trimix cave instructors. All can benefit from this type of training. It’s a great primer for further training or a great method to refresh your scuba skills after a period of inactivity.

How long does it take?

The Extreme Scuba Makeover program is usually conducted of the course of a day. A couple of hours theory and introduction to the World of UTD/ DIR Diving. Followed by a 3 hour pool session.

What equipment do I need?

For this workshop-type class you can use your own scuba equipment. It does not have to meet the DIR equipment specifics, however you do need a 210cm/7ft hose for your primary second stage. Ask your instructor for help with this if you need to. You will need your exposure suit. mask, fins, snorkel, bathin suit or swim shorts, a weight belt with some loose weights.

What can I do after?

Since this ia more of a workshop-type course, there is no real certification attached to this. And therefore your diving limits will remain the same, However you will be able to feel maybe for the forst time what it feels like to realy be 100% in control of your buoyancy trim and propulsion.

How do I get started?

During the buying process, you will be guided through a registration waiver. Here you can choose your instructor. After the waiver has been completed your instructor will also be notified

The costs and pricing structure for UTD courses is almost always built up in 3 sections
1:The price for the course materials you buy directly at the UTD website.
2: The price for the in-person instruction from your instructor
3: Local fees or diving expenses. These could be entry fees, pool rental, equipment rental, etc. inquire with your instructor for details about this. If this course requires the instructor to travel to or with you, the students share the traveling costs of the instructor.
